Item is a photograph of a British Columbia Wildlife Federation (BCWF) meeting held at Marco Hall. Photograph is an interior snapshot of the head table where two man wearing a suit and tie are seated. The man seated on the left side is looking forward and holding up a gavel. The man on the right is looking to the left. On the table are an audio cassette recorded with a microphone set in a table stand attached to it, loose paper, water glasses, a metal carafe and a small [tin ashtray]. On the left side on the table stands a man resting his foot on the platform for the chairs at the table. He has short hair and horn rimmed glasses, and is wearing a snap closure windbreaker with a patch on the breast of the jacket. In the foreground are two seated people with their backs to the camera. In the background the windows on the brick wall have its curtains fully drawn.

Context

The B.C. Wildlife Federation held a meeting on January 19th, 1979 to discuss the depletion of salmon. Hugh Anderson, Parliamentary Secretary to Hugh Faulkner, Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, spoke at the event in support of the Aboriginal Right to food fishing. Discussions were held regarding the depletion of salmon stocks through the commercial fishing industry and industrial pollution. UBCIC, the Musqueam Indian Band, the Squamish Nation, and the United Native Nations were in attendance.
