- Concerns that the area and the Tobacco Plains people would be impacted by the construction of a natural gas pipeline were expressed by the Tobacco Plains Band in the late 1970s. They were concerned about the effects of the Alberta Natural Gas pipeline since the pipleline route was planned to be in close proximity to the Tobacco Plains Reserve.
