- Item is a photograph of a sign at Hell's Gate, British Columbia. The photo is a snapshot of a tourist sign on the history of the area. The sign tells of the history of transportation at Hell's Gate including railways and roads and tells about the explorer Simon Fraser who passed along the cliffs in the area on a series of bridges and ladders that were built by the local Thompson Indians. It also states that "Local Indians are the only ones authorized to fish here, but they may not sell their catch."
