- Item is a photograph of a Demonstration at BC Hydro against the proposed coal-fired power plant in Hat Creek. Photograph is an exterior snapshot of people walking on a sidewalk near a building with a mosaic design created with small ceramic tiles on the exterior wall. George Manuel is in the lead; he has short wavy hair and horn rimmed glasses and is wearing a Cowichan type sweater and dark coloured trousers. He is holding folded sheets of paper in each hand. The woman to the left has long wavy hair and is wearing a fringed beaded leather jacket and light coloured trousers, she is holding a rolled piece of paper in one hand and a closed umbrella in the other. The man to the right has curly shoulder length hair and metal framed glasses and is wearing a light coloured winter jacket and light coloured pants. He is holding a briefcase in one hand and sheets of loose paper in the other. A large group of people are following behind; they are dressed in winter clothing. In the right background a man and woman stand beneath an umbrella.

- B.C. Hydro proposed the development of a coal-powered power plant in Hat Creek, B.C., known as the "Hat Creek Project". The proposed site was close to Bonaparte Reserve, Cornwall, Pavilion, Deadman’s Creek, Fountain and Bridge River Reserves. Concerns arose regarding the environmental impacts and the imposition of inherent Aboriginal water rights.
